Our Story
Pepine Gives is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit founded in 2018.
After working in real estate for eight years, Betsy Pepine had a firsthand view into how great of a need there is for affordable housing in Gainesville, and how much the lack thereof harms our most vulnerable community members.
She created Pepine Gives to improve the lives of the underserved, mainly by empowering them with a comortable and stable living environment.
We continuously strive to invest in our community and make a tangible difference to those who need it most.
— Betsy Pepine, Founder of Pepine Gives
Our Approach
Our focus lies in improving housing affordability in the Greater Gainesville area. However, we are constantly working to expand the scope of our impact.
Housing Affordability Efforts
Initiatives include:
- Major repairs and renovations of existing houses to improve resident safety and quality of life.
- Purchase, rehabilitation, and resale of houses under market rates.
- Construction of new homes for cost-burdened families in collaboration with Alachua Habitat of Humanity.
- Fundraising donations for local families to make necessary accessibility and quality of life improvements to their homes.
Local Community Service
We engage in a wide variety of volunteer work, whether it’s organizing toy, food, and/or clothing drives; arranging events from pet adoptions to soup kitchens; or assisting local organizations like Ronald McDonald House and the Humane Society of North Central Florida.
Every month, we organize volunteer events where our staff members are encouraged to participate during working hours.
Charitable Contributions
We provide a matching grant of $1000 per year for each agent or staff member to donate to the charities of their choice. Additionally, we sponsor various local organizations, including charities and sports teams, and fund philanthropic events.
